Minimally invasive appendectomy is performed mainly in the lower abdomen, and laparoscopic appendectomy is usually performed using a three-hole approach to laparoscopic appendectomy. The first hole is 1 cm above the umbilicus, where a 1 cm incision is made and laparoscopic instruments are implanted as observation holes. At the body projection of the appendix, which is the site of the Mack’s point, a 1 cm Troca’s orifice is usually made as the main operating orifice. Then a 5-mm Troca hole is made in the lower midline of the abdomen, about 2 cm above the pubic symphysis, as an auxiliary operating hole. Under direct lumpectomy, the appendix is removed through the main operating hole and the auxiliary operating hole with lumpectomy instruments to complete the surgical procedure.
