Is a 3cm nodule in the lung considered serious?

A 3cm nodule in the lung is considered to be more serious in most cases. Because most of the 3cm nodules in lungs are middle and late stage malignant tumors, the treatment effect is poor; a small part of them are benign tumors, surgical resection will also damage part of lung function.
1. Primary lung cancer: most of the 3cm nodules in lungs are primary lung cancer, often with lymph nodes or even distant metastasis, and TNM stage is middle or late stage lung cancer, even if they can be treated by surgery, the prognosis is generally poor, and patients who cannot be treated by surgery are in more serious condition.
2. Lung metastatic cancer: it suggests malignant tumors in other parts of the body as late-stage tumors, which seriously affects patients’ life and quality of life, and most of the patients do not have a long survival period.
3. Benign tumors: benign tumors 3cm will compress bronchial tubes and cause cough, atelectasis and other symptoms, some benign tumors have malignant potential, which need to be surgically resected and damage part of lung function.
Lung 3cm nodules are generally more serious, need to go to the thoracic surgery for further diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible, so as not to delay the condition.
