If Yang deficiency and Qi deficiency coexist, or if the Yang deficiency person suffers from other Astragalus indications, he/she may drink the soup made of Astragalus. If there is no astragalus indication for Yang deficiency, one should avoid blindly drinking the soup made of astragalus.
Astragalus is the dried root of the leguminous plant Astragalus membranaceus or Astragalus membranaceus, which is slightly warm in nature and has the effects of tonifying qi and elevating yang, fixing the surface and stopping sweating (stopping sweating by consolidating the surface of the muscle), inducing diuresis to reduce swelling, generating fluids and nourishing the blood, and promoting stagnation and paralysis (making the paralyzed meridians open up);
It is used for the treatment or improvement of qi deficiency and weakness, loose stools (thin and unformed feces), sagging qi in the middle (deficiency of qi in the spleen and stomach, with the appearance of falling internal organs), prolonged diarrhea and prolapse of the anus, blood in the stool and leakage of menstruation (menstruation with excessive amount of blood or dripping), spontaneous sweating due to deficiency of the epidermis (due to the weakness of the epidermis, with frequent and natural sweating), qi deficiency and edema, and thirst with internal heat (internal fever accompanied by symptoms such as overeating, excessive drinking, and excessive urination).
Yang deficiency refers to the loss of yang qi in the body, and the role of warming and promoting is reduced, so yang deficiency does not belong to the indications of astragalus, and astragalus is not a regular treatment of yang deficiency. However, if Yang deficiency coexists with Qi deficiency, or if Yang deficiency is accompanied by the above mentioned conditions, a soup made of Astragalus can be taken under the guidance of a doctor. However, it is not recommended that people with Yang deficiency take Astragalus without the indication of Astragalus.
It is important to note that astragalus should not be used in cases where there is an abundance of solid evil on the surface, stagnation on the inside, yin deficiency with hyperactivity of yang, or heat and toxins are still prevalent at the beginning of sores or after ulceration. In addition, the symptoms of Yang deficiency is serious, should be timely medical treatment, should not blindly use their own medication, and do not recommend unauthorized use of Chinese herbs to drink water.
