Judging by 5-year survival, after rectal cancer stage III lymph node metastasis is treated by surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, 5-year survival can be up to 60%, which still has a certain chance of cure.
In clinical stage II-IV, low rectal cancer can be considered to be treated by neoadjuvant radiotherapy, which can kill tumor cells, reduce the stage of cancer, reduce the size of tumor, and then perform surgical resection after lowering the stage of tumor, through which the cure rate of cancer can be greatly improved, the cancer cells can be removed as much as possible, and the risk of recurrence can be reduced after surgery.
However, patients with lymph node metastasis of stage III rectal cancer should also be co-treated through lymph node dissection during the period of surgical treatment, and they should go to the hospital for regular review after treatment to avoid tumor recurrence.
