People with high blood sugar are advised to drink little or no honey water.
Honey water is made with honey, which contains about 70% sugar and has a glycemic index of 73, making it a high glycemic index food. People with high blood sugar may experience a rapid rise in blood sugar after drinking honey water. So people with high blood sugar are advised to drink less or no honey water.
Besides honey water, other foods with high sugar content such as cake, cream and maltose are also not recommended for people with high blood sugar. Patients diagnosed with high blood sugar should maintain a healthy diet under the guidance of a doctor, low in sugar, salt and fat, eat more fresh vegetables, moderate amount of low-sugar fruits, appropriate exercise, and actively cooperate with medication if necessary.
However, when hypoglycemia clearly occurs, drinking some honey water can make the blood sugar rise quickly and avoid the harm caused by hypoglycemia to the body.
