Prednisone belongs to the class of glucocorticoid hormone drugs, 2 tablets of prednisone in 1 day may have side effects such as infections, peptic ulcers, Cushing’s-like syndrome and inhibition of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis.
1. Infection: long-term application of this drug may cause the body’s resistance to infection to be reduced, which may induce infection and aggravate the existing infection. Therefore, attention should be paid to the monitoring of infection and strengthening of anti-infection treatment when using this drug.
2. Peptic ulcer: after the use of the drug may appear epigastric discomfort, nausea, vomiting, belching (burp), flatulence, acidity, the product can inhibit the body’s defense function, may not appear in the gastrointestinal tract bleeding or perforation of the obvious symptoms, delayed condition.
3. Cushing-like syndrome: abnormal lipid metabolism and abnormal glucose metabolism may occur in the body after long-term use of the drug, with symptoms such as full moon face, centripetal obesity, buffalo back, hypercholesterolemia, hyperglycemia, muscle atrophy and weakness, osteoporosis, hirsutism, acne, susceptibility to infection, hypokalemia, hypertension and edema.
4. Suppression of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis: After long-term use of the drug, based on the negative feedback mechanism, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system is suppressed, and the adrenal secretion function is reduced. Dizziness, nausea, vomiting, shock and hypoglycemic coma may occur if the drug is suddenly stopped, or if an emergency situation arises within 1 to 2 years of stopping the drug and the body needs to undergo a stress response.
