What’s wrong with waking up dizzy and spinning?

Dizziness after getting up may be caused by physiological reasons, or it may be a manifestation of many diseases, such as otolithiasis, vertebral artery cervical spondylosis, posterior circulation transient ischemic attack, and so on. 1. Physiological reasons: when the human body suddenly sits up from a lying position, the blood can not return to the brain in time, which may lead to insufficient blood supply to the brain, causing symptoms of morning dizziness. 2. Otolithiasis: clinically known as benign positional vertigo. Due to trauma, structural degradation and other reasons, otoliths are dislodged. When the head position changes while lying down, the dislodged otolith fragments can be displaced to the balance structures such as semicircular canal and the crest cap of the jugular ridge, thus inducing vertigo. 3. Vertebral artery-type cervical spondylosis: this disease is related to degenerative changes of the cervical spine. Poor sleeping posture and changing head position when getting up may lead to vertebral artery compression, thus causing insufficient blood supply to the brain and vertigo and other symptoms. 4. Transient ischemic attack: This disease mainly refers to transient cerebral ischemia caused by intracranial atherosclerosis and other vascular diseases. At the onset, symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting and unsteadiness occur. There are many reasons for dizziness after getting up, and it is recommended to go to the hospital in time and standardize the treatment for the cause of the disease.
