Skull traction surgery steps

Cranial traction is mainly used in cases of cervical fractures or cervical dislocations. The surgical steps include: In the first step, a suitable cranial traction arch is selected and adjusted in size. In the second step, skin preparation and sterilization are required for the location of the cranial traction nail. In the third step, the patient’s weight should be measured and the weight of the traction should be calculated. In the fourth step, the traction nail above the traction arch is nailed to the parietal tuberosity at both ends of the skull and in the same line with the spine, and then the traction arch and traction cord are attached and fixed on top of the traction cart, and the patient is allowed to lie flat with the spine and the traction cord parallel to each other, and the patient is asked if there is any discomfort. In the fifth step, the time of traction, the weight of traction and the patient’s vital signs are recorded.
