Bone metastases from advanced cancer can be misdiagnosed. Generally, if pathologic examination is done, the possibility of misdiagnosis can be reduced. If bone metastasis is found in bone scanning examination, it may be misdiagnosed and is not really bone metastasis, and CT and MRI should be further improved to carry out exclusion analysis and clear diagnosis. And the MRI examination may be false positive, such as local slight inflammatory reaction, which may lead to T2, STIR high signal, but does not mean that it is necessarily bone metastasis, need to be combined with CT examination to see whether there is bone destruction. If CT or MRI examination cannot clarify whether bone metastasis has occurred, you can choose PET-CT examination and so on in combination with oncologist’s examination analysis and suggestion to reduce the chance of misdiagnosis of bone metastasis, which is relatively more accurate. Whether there is bone metastasis in advanced stage of cancer or not, it is recommended to go to regular big hospitals for examination, combined with clinical analysis, examination and evaluation by professional oncologists to make a clear diagnosis.
