Patients with bile duct stones should eat eggs in moderation. The main component of bile duct stones is bile pigment stones, or mixed stones with bile pigment as the main component. Current studies have found that the causes of bile duct stones are mainly related to biliary tract infections, biliary parasites, biliary stasis, malnutrition, foreign bodies in the bile duct and anatomical abnormalities of the bile duct, and are not too obviously related to dietary structure. However, the formation of gallbladder stones is closely related to cholesterol. If too much high cholesterol food is consumed, it will cause hypercholesterolemia, which will lead to cholesterol supersaturation in bile and precipitation of cholesterol crystals, eventually causing gallbladder stones and gallbladder polyps. Therefore, patients with gallbladder stones should avoid eating high cholesterol foods, and egg yolks are rich in cholesterol and should be avoided or consumed sparingly. Gallbladder stones may travel down the bile duct causing secondary common bile duct stones, which should be noted.
