In novel coronavirus pneumonia caused by novel coronavirus infection, early laboratory tests may show normal or decreased routine blood white blood cell counts and decreased lymphocyte counts. As the disease progresses and the patient develops a bacterial infection, the blood count may increase and the neutrophil count may increase. Acute and critically ill patients with poor feeding may show signs of anemia. Clinical treatment can be guided by changes in blood counts, and usually a combination of therapeutic approaches, such as respiratory support therapy techniques, and nutritional support therapy, are used for targeted treatment to achieve improvement in clinical symptoms.
