Breast cancer, a major killer of women’s health

Breast cancer is a cancer of the breast area. More than 95% of breast tumors are malignant tumors, and simple breast sarcoma is very rare. Globally, breast cancer accounts for a large proportion of female cancers, with an average of one in forty-five women suffering from breast cancer, which is among the most common malignant tumors and has a significant impact on women’s health. With the changing times, human habits and living environment have changed drastically, and the development of breast cancer is closely related to this, and the incidence is still increasing. However, thankfully, the mortality rate of breast cancer is much less than that of major diseases such as liver cancer, and in some developed regions, the survival rate after the onset of the disease can even reach 90%. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the basic situation of breast cancer, raise personal vigilance and pay attention to breast health. The basic situation of breast cancer in China From a worldwide perspective, the incidence and mortality rate of breast cancer in Chinese women is very low, only 1/3 of that in developed countries, but at the same time, given our huge population base, even though the ratio is low, the total number of people with the disease is still not negligible, and the number of cases can even be ranked second in the world, accounting for 12.25% of the total number of cases worldwide. It should be clear that the incidence of breast cancer, as a highly prevalent disease in women, grows with age, it is extremely rare in adolescent women and uncommon in childbearing age, and generally the value increases rapidly around the age of 45 and gradually reaches its peak, about 69.75% of cases in China are in this age group, and the incidence rate gradually decreases after the age of 55 and decreases to a greater extent, but it is worth noting that in the However, it is worth noting that there will be a small increase in the interval from 60 to 69 years old, so it is important not to let down your guard rashly because of menopause. From a regional perspective, the incidence rate in urban areas is significantly higher than that in rural areas, but due to differences in diagnostic and screening opportunities and personal attention, there is a gap between urban and rural survival rates, with mortality rates in rural areas being higher than those in urban areas. Pre-screening and diagnosis of breast cancer Tumor screening, which can also be described as census, is a cancer prevention measure for asymptomatic people, and the examination for people with symptoms is called diagnosis. In terms of age, breast screening is not recommended for non-high-risk people aged 20 to 39 years old who also do not have any symptoms, while it is necessary for the group of women over 40 years old to undergo screening once or twice a year, and twice a year for those over 70 years old, so do not let down your guard because of age. It is important to note that if you have a genetic predisposition to breast cancer or a history of radiation therapy to the chest, it is necessary to start screening earlier than the general population, even if you are between 20 and 40 years of age, it is recommended to have a breast screening once a year. X-rays are more accurate in women over 40 years of age and less effective in younger women, so it is not recommended that young women who are not at high risk and do not have abnormalities start breast screening early. Besides, there are many other means including ultrasound and MRI to assist X-rays to diagnose the condition. As for some methods of breast self-examination, they are not effective to improve the diagnosis rate, but it has a positive effect on raising women’s awareness of cancer prevention, so it is still worth promoting. Breast cancer treatment and breast conservation Breast cancer can generally be cured by resection surgery, which is the only means to achieve a cure compared to other treatments, especially for some early stage patients, if they are in good health, then it is recommended to choose surgery. If the patient is in advanced stage or in poor health condition, there are also various means to control the disease such as radiation therapy, chemotherapy, Chinese medicine treatment, etc. Surgery is not the only means, but it is preferred. For patients, the absence of breast after surgery will become a major heartache, then it can be decided whether to undergo breast-conserving treatment or not depending on individual situation, because breast-conserving treatment has very many contraindications, such as: inflammatory breast cancer, extensive lesions, and patients with severe skin disease cannot be performed, and breast cancer is more stubborn and the risk of recurrence will increase after breast-conserving, so about breast-conserving treatment must be cautious and then cautious again. In contrast, there is another type of breast reconstruction surgery that can help women to maintain the balance of their body shape and achieve the aesthetic effect, i.e. to reconstruct the shape and contour of the breast by implanting implants. However, breast reconstruction is also associated with certain risks, such as implant displacement, contracture and other complications, and should be carefully considered. Breast cancer rehabilitation treatment After any treatment, there must be a rehabilitation phase to help stabilize the body, restore the body functions and adjust the psychological state. It is a gradual process and should not be rushed. This functional exercise can effectively restore the function of the shoulder joint and help to reduce edema, but it needs to be done properly under scientific guidance, and the starting time and intensity of training vary from person to person. Besides, it is more important to take care of the nutritional intake, proper exercise and avoiding obesity in daily life, of course, a healthy lifestyle is always the “golden prescription” to say goodbye to the disease. In conclusion, although the incidence of breast cancer is high, with the advancement of technology and economic development, the mortality rate will gradually decrease, so early detection and treatment will have a great effect on the disease.
