Lower Jiao Damp-Heat (dampness and heat invading the intestines, bladder, pubic region, lower limbs, etc.) has no therapeutic efficacy when used with Yan Hu Suo, which is mainly used for all kinds of pains caused by stagnation of qi and blood, and its efficacy is to alleviate pain, invigorate blood circulation, and promote circulation of qi. Damp-heat in the lower jiao refers to the disease that occurs when damp-heat encroaches on the lower jiao, which is mainly manifested as short and red urine (small amount of urine, dark yellow in color), heaviness and fatigue, yellowish and greasy tongue, and poor appetite. The treatment of this syndrome focuses on clearing dampness and heat, but Yanhusuo does not have the effect of clearing dampness and heat. The main effects of Yan Hu Suo are to invigorate blood circulation, move qi and relieve pain (by regulating the body’s qi to relieve pain), and is used for various pain syndromes caused by qi and blood stagnation, such as menstrual cramps and dysmenorrhea, and epigastric (abdominal) pain. The adverse reactions and contraindications of Yan Hu Suo are still unclear, note that pregnant women are contraindicated, menstruation preceded by and all blood-heaters are prohibited. For those with damp-heat in the lower Jiao, commonly used Chinese herbs include Psyllium, Yin Chen, Poria, etc., which should be used under the guidance of the physician’s diagnosis. If you have symptoms such as short and red urine, you should consult a doctor in time, under the guidance of the TCM doctor’s diagnosis and treatment with medication, do not self-medication, to avoid causing adverse consequences.
