What are the chances of confirming a cancer diagnosis with a proposed diagnosis of HSIL by colposcopy?

The proposed diagnosis of HSIL by colposcopy does not confirm that it is cancer, nor can it say what the chances of confirming the diagnosis of cancer are. For the diagnosis of cervical cancer, the methods usually taken are: cervical cytology, HPV test, cervical biopsy and so on. 1. Cervical cytologic examination: gently scraping the cells of cervical epithelium with an instrument to check whether there is any abnormal change in the cervical cells. 2. HPV examination: HPV virus, i.e. human papillomavirus, is considered to be closely related to the occurrence of cervical cancer; its examination method is to take the secretion on the surface of the cervix and the exfoliated cells of the cervix, and then examine the titer and type of HPV. 3. Cervical biopsy: this test is the confirmatory test for cervical cancer and is also the gold standard for diagnosis; when the patient is diagnosed with HSIL by colposcopy, a multi-point biopsy is needed to avoid missed diagnosis. In clinic, the diagnosis of cervical cancer can be divided into three steps: cytology – colposcopy – histology examination, and patients need to confirm the diagnosis under the guidance of physicians.
