Can a bad heart cause a cough?

A bad heart may cause a cough, such as left heart insufficiency from various causes. Heart disease is not directly related to coughing, but some heart diseases may cause coughing. When the left side of the heart is not functioning properly, the left side of the heart pumps less blood and the pressure in the left atrium increases, causing lung stasis and coughing and coughing up pink foamy sputum.
