A bad heart may cause a cough, such as left heart insufficiency from various causes. Heart disease is not directly related to coughing, but some heart diseases may cause coughing. When the left side of the heart is not functioning properly, the left side of the heart pumps less blood and the pressure in the left atrium increases, causing lung stasis and coughing and coughing up pink foamy sputum. When coughing up pink frothy sputum is detected, it may be cardiogenic asthma and prompt medical attention should be sought. If a patient with previous heart disease has a cough, cough sputum, sputum is pink foamy, accompanied by other symptoms, such as chest tightness, shortness of breath during activity, or even without activity, there are symptoms of chest tightness, shortness of breath, should be suspected of the possibility of left heart insufficiency.
