Genital herpes is not yet completely cured and it is difficult to achieve absolute non-recurrence.
Genital herpes is caused by herpes simplex virus infection, and most of them are herpes simplex virus type 2 infection. At present, the treatment of genital herpes is mainly divided into antiviral treatment and immunomodulatory treatment.
1. Antiviral therapy: oral acyclic guanosine antiviral drugs, such as acyclovir tablets, vasiclovir tablets or famciclovir tablets, topical acyclovir cream. For recurrent cases, viral suppression therapy can be used by taking the above drugs orally in small doses for a long time.
2. Immunomodulatory therapy. For recurrent cases, oral immunomodulatory drugs such as transfer factor and thymidine can reduce the recurrence of the disease to a certain extent.
Using the above two methods has the potential to control genital herpes well and greatly reduce its recurrence rate. However, there is no method that can completely get rid of the herpes simplex virus and provide a 100% guarantee that genital herpes will not recur.
The medications mentioned above need to be used under a doctor’s supervision, and genital herpes requires a visit to a hospital dermatologist.
