CT manifestations of horseshoe kidney

Horseshoe kidney is a congenital developmental malformation of the kidney, each person will have two kidneys, one on the left and one on the right, and the lower side of these two kidneys is called the lower pole, and when the two kidneys are connected together, it is called horseshoe kidney, which resembles a horseshoe. When the two kidneys are joined together, it is called horseshoe kidney, which is shaped like a horseshoe. In the CT horizontal cross-section layer by layer, the first thing we can see is that the upper pole and the middle pole of the two kidneys are on the two sides of the abdomen, and the middle part of the two kidneys are merged together in the lower pole. If you suspect horseshoe kidney, it is better to do CT 3D reconstruction, which can be cut along any section, along the CT coronal plane, the coronal plane can see whether the two kidneys and the lower pole are united together at the same time, and if they are connected together, it is a horseshoe kidney.
