How to tell if your tonsils are inflamed

The severity of tonsillitis needs to be analyzed with clinical symptoms, pathological changes of tonsils, systemic conditions, blood tests and so on. 1. Symptoms and pathological changes of tonsils: severe sore throat, mostly accompanied by swallowing pain, may appear jaw angle lymph node enlargement and tenderness. Heavier patients present acute disease appearance, pharyngeal mucosa diffuse congestion, palatine tonsil enlargement. The light lesions are relatively mild compared to the above symptoms. 2. Systemic condition: If there are systemic symptoms after tonsil inflammation, such as fever, generalized weakness, chills, etc., the condition is more serious; if there are no obvious systemic symptoms after tonsil inflammation, the condition is relatively mild. 3. Blood test: If tonsillitis is caused by bacterial infection, the blood test will show obvious increase of white blood cells, neutrophils, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein, etc. If tonsillitis is caused by viral infection, the condition is more serious. If tonsillitis is caused by a viral infection, routine blood tests may show an increase in white blood cells and lymphocytes. Bacterial infections are more serious.
