Are diabetics less likely to get cancer?

It is wrong to say that if you have diabetes, you are less likely to get cancer. Some cancers are significantly more prevalent in diabetics than in non-diabetics. Diabetic patients are prone to higher incidence of tumors due to the effects of obesity, insulin resistance, elevated blood glucose, and medications. Among diabetic patients, the tumors with significantly higher incidence include the following: i. Colorectal cancer, the incidence of colorectal cancer in diabetic patients is significantly higher than that in non-diabetic patients. ii. Liver cancer, poor long-term blood sugar control will lead to a significantly higher incidence of liver cancer. Pancreatic cancer, the occurrence of pancreatic cancer is related to islet dysfunction caused by elevated blood sugar. Breast cancer, the incidence of breast cancer in women with diabetes is also higher than that in non-diabetic patients.
