Where does vocal cord cancer metastasize?

Vocal cord cancer will have distant metastasis, such as brain metastasis and lung metastasis, if it develops into advanced stage.
Vocal cord is located in the larynx, malignant tumor at vocal cord is also called laryngeal cancer, and patients will have symptoms such as hoarseness, foreign body sensation, cough, etc. The cause of the disease is mostly related to viral infection, heredity, and so on. With the development of the disease, if laryngeal cancer is in advanced stage, the cancer cells will metastasize to distant places, commonly brain metastasis and lung metastasis.
Depending on the site of metastasis, patients will have different symptoms, for example, patients with brain metastasis will have symptoms of increased intracranial pressure such as headache, blurred vision, vomiting, and hemiplegia in severe cases. Patients with lung metastasis will have symptoms such as cough, sputum and blood, chest pain, etc., which can cause changes such as pleural fluid in serious cases.
Once diagnosed with laryngeal cancer, patients need to go to regular hospitals for treatment in time to avoid delaying the condition, and the treatment is mainly based on surgery. If the symptoms mentioned above occur, metastasis of cancer cells should be considered, which needs to be treated with chemotherapy to enhance the therapeutic effect.
