How to treat meningitis

The treatment of meningitis depends on the different causes of the disease to choose the appropriate treatment, such as the use of antiviral drugs, antibacterial drugs, anti-tuberculosis drugs and so on.
1. Viral meningitis: viral meningitis is mainly treated with antiviral therapy, using antiviral drugs such as acyclovir, ganciclovir, etc. If there are epileptic seizures, carbamazepine and phenytoin sodium can be used.
2. Septic meningitis: if the pathogen is not determined, you can choose three generations of cephalosporin, such as ceftriaxone or ceftiozole sodium as the first choice of medicine, after determining the pathogen, you should choose sensitive antibiotics according to the pathogen, pneumococcus and meningococcus preferred penicillin, gram-negative bacilli preferred ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, and so on.
3. Tuberculous meningitis: mainly anti-tuberculous treatment, can use isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide, streptomycin and other drugs, to be early, combined, adequate and long-term use of drugs.
4. Cryptococcal meningitis: amphotericin B can be used as the first choice, and 5-fluorocytosine can be used to improve the efficacy.
