Dextran can treat neurosis, but Dextran is not used to treat gastrointestinal neurosis. Gastrointestinal neurosis is a condition in which the patient has no lesions in the gastrointestinal tract itself through any tests, but the patient still has symptoms of digestive discomfort. Problems such as nausea, regurgitation, vomiting, and diarrhea exist and are considered to be gastrointestinal neurosis. Treatment of gastrointestinal neurosis is mainly symptom-specific and includes giving the patient pro-gastrointestinal motility medications such as mosapride and domperidone. If the patient has a burning sensation of stomach acid to give acid-suppressing drugs, such as omeprazole, pantoprazole. If there is gastrointestinal colic give drugs such as trimebutine to mediate the movement of the intestines. If the patient has constipation problems, give the patient laxative medications such as lactulose and probiotics (e.g. bifidobacteria). If the patient has heavy anxiety and depression, tricyclic drugs such as amitriptyline or pentothal reuptake inhibitors such as fluoxetine may be given.
