Inflammation of the lips is generally referred to as labiitis. Symptoms of labiitis vary from one cause to another and can generally be characterized by peeling, swelling and oozing of the lips.
Chronic lipitis includes chronic desquamative lipitis and chronic erosive lipitis. Chronic desquamative labiitis is characterized by recurrent dryness, flaking, burning, pain, and oozing of the lips. Chronic erosive labiitis is characterized by recurrent erosion, oozing and crusting of the lips.
Glandular Lipitis is characterized by swollen and hypertrophied lips with glandular hyperplasia and mucus discharge. Benign lymphoid hyperplasia labiitis manifests as yellowish crusty covering with swelling and itching sensation. Granulomatous labyrinthitis presents as diffuse swelling, often gradually spreading from one side of the lip to the other.
If there are uncomfortable symptoms, it is important to seek medical attention for standardized treatment.
