Clinical manifestations of craniopharyngioma

The clinical manifestations of craniopharyngioma mainly include: endocrine dysfunction, visual disorder and intracranial hypertension and other symptoms.
1. Endocrine dysfunction: craniopharyngioma can occur from any point of pituitary hypothalamus axis and develop around it, and pituitary hypothalamus is the endocrine center of human body, so this disease is very prone to endocrine abnormality.
Specifically, it can be manifested as hypothyroidism, short stature of children, uremia, male impotence and premature ejaculation, female amenorrhea, etc. In a few cases, it may also have hyperactivity of endocrine function, such as precocious puberty and obesity of children.
2. Visual impairment: with the increase of craniopharyngioma, it will compress the optic nerve. Partial blindness is the typical visual impairment of craniopharyngioma, and some patients will be accompanied by optic papillae edema.
3. Intracranial hypertension: craniopharyngioma may easily lead to intracranial hypertension, which may cause nausea, vomiting, headache and other manifestations.
