Can baking soda tablets be used to treat gout?

Baking soda tablets do not treat gout. Gout is a disease caused by high blood uric acid level, resulting in the deposition of uric acid crystals in the joints. Baking soda tablets belong to a kind of tablets, which contain sodium bicarbonate, can be used to alkalize urine, inhibit the formation of urate crystals, applicable to the treatment of acidemia, generally not used for the treatment of gout. The treatment of gout can be divided into chronic phase treatment, acute phase treatment, surgical treatment and so on. For patients with chronic gout, uric acid-lowering treatment is required, and small-dose colchicine is recommended at the initial stage of uric acid-lowering, which can also be combined with the use of drugs to promote uric acid excretion, such as phenylbromarone, probenecid, and so on. For patients with acute gout, early anti-inflammatory and analgesic treatment is generally recommended, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (indomethacin, diclofenac) or short-term use of glucocorticosteroids such as prednisone. For patients with severe gout, treatments such as removal of gout stones or orthopedic treatment of deformed joints may be chosen if necessary. Gout patients, according to the severity of the disease, can choose the scientific and formal way of treatment, do not self-medication.
