PPA tablets are also known as Pyridoxine tablets. Piperidic acid belongs to the second generation of quinolones, an antibacterial drug that was synthesized in 1973 and is a bactericidal agent, not an antibiotic. Piperidic acid kills bacteria by interfering with bacterial DNA synthesis and is effective against most gram-staining negative bacteria, but is less effective against gram-staining positive bacteria. Pipecolic acid tablets are easily absorbed after oral administration, and the concentration in the blood is low after absorption and high in the urine. It is limited to the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria, such as urethritis, cystitis, and bacterial infections of the intestinal tract, and its use is relatively narrow and less used now. Piperidic acid has relatively low toxicity and mild adverse reactions, and can recover on its own without special treatment after discontinuation of the drug. Piperidic acid is contraindicated in women who are pregnant and breastfeeding, and is not suitable for adolescents and children under 18 years of age.
