Is it normal for mediastinal lymph nodes to be visible?

It is not normal for mediastinal lymph nodes to be visible. When mediastinal lymph nodes are enlarged and visible, it is often caused by infections, inflammation, tuberculosis, or neoplastic diseases.
1. Mediastinal infection caused by bacteria or viruses often causes inflammation, and the lymph nodes will proliferate and swell in order to resist invasion, and become visible from invisible in CT and other imaging examinations. Cultures of pathogenic bacteria and drug sensitivity tests should be carried out in time, and antibiotics or antiviral drugs should be used for symptomatic treatment.
2. Mediastinal lymph node tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis will be manifested as enlarged lymph nodes in the mediastinum. Anti-tuberculosis drugs should be used for symptomatic treatment.
3. Tumor diseases, such as lymphoma or lung cancer, will metastasize to the mediastinal lymph nodes, infiltrate and proliferate and differentiate in the mediastinal lymph nodes, resulting in mediastinal lymph node enlargement, which should be treated with surgery and supplemented with radiotherapy in a timely manner.
It should be noted that when mediastinal lymph node enlargement is visible, one should go to the hospital in time for examination and treatment under the doctor’s guidance.
