What to do if your baby has gastrointestinal bleeding

Gastrointestinal bleeding in babies is usually urgent and serious, so it should be given enough attention and the following treatment should be carried out: 1. fasting and gastrointestinal decompression, which is a necessary treatment, should seek the baby’s cooperation and reduce the baby’s pain. 2. a considerable amount of intravenous fluid should be given, because the baby is relatively young, so the supplemental fluids should be in the right amount, and the patient’s routine blood, biochemical and other results should be monitored to give appropriate adjustments. 3. In the case of stable condition, the bleeding site must be clarified as soon as possible, such as gastroscopy or colonoscopy, and if necessary, gastrointestinal angiography, to clarify the specific bleeding site, and to give relevant hemostatic treatment, so that the patient can return to normal. In cases where the condition requires it, surgery may even be necessary, and close observation should be continued after surgery in order for the patient to recover.
