Manifestations of needle sickness and treatment

Dizziness, seen in acupuncture, manifested as pale, cold sweat, dizziness and vomiting, panic, weakness symptoms, blood pressure is also reduced, and shock is different, belong to the vascular decompression syncope, because acupuncture stimulation, through the vagus nerve reflex caused by the vascular bed expansion, the heart to reduce blood return, causing a drop in blood pressure, cerebral blood supply is insufficient a series of symptoms leading to fainting. There are three causes of acupuncture fainting: 1, physical reasons: weakness, hunger, drunkenness, allergies, fatigue, prone to acupuncture fainting. 2, psychological reasons: because of fear, nervousness psychological factors generated by the needle fainting. 3, pathological reasons: people with plant nerve dysfunction, especially those with a history of upright hypotension or neurosis are more prone to needle sickness. 4, acupuncture point stimulation too strong: the so-called too strong, because each person’s situation varies, it is difficult to compare the amount of difficulty. Generally in sensitive points to apply needles, or the use of special techniques, such as gas to the disease manipulation can be induced. In the type of stimulation, in addition to milli-needle, cupping, moxibustion, acupoint injection and ear acupuncture can also cause dizziness needles. 5, body position causes: in the standing position and sitting position to occur more needle sickness, but there are also prone to needle sickness. Reclining motion sickness accounts for about 28%. Clinically, it is observed that the symptoms of prone motion sickness are more severe and last longer. 6, environmental causes: low air pressure of the muggy season, muddy air in the house, noisy sound, etc. The aura period of dizziness: various discomfort in the head, upper abdomen or general discomfort, blurred vision, tinnitus, palpitations, nausea, pallor, cold sweat, yawning, etc. This period is very short, and some patients may have no aura period. Seizure period: In mild cases, dizziness and chest tightness, nausea and vomiting, limbs are cold and limp, shaking and unstable, or with momentary loss of consciousness. In severe cases, sudden loss of consciousness, fainting on the ground, blue lips and nails, dripping sweat, pale face, eyes rolled up, and incontinence. The blood pressure drops rapidly and the pulse rate slows to 40-50 beats per minute. A few of them may be accompanied by convulsive episodes. Later stage: After recovery by timely treatment, the patient may have significant fatigue, pallor, salivation and sweating. In mild cases, there is only mild discomfort. The above is the typical course of seizures, but mild cases can only appear in the aura phase that directly into the later stages, without the seizure phase. Most cases of acupuncture dizziness occur during the acupuncture process, but a few patients may experience symptoms a few minutes or longer after the needles are removed. This is known as delayed needle sickness and is worth noting. As long as the acupuncture needles are treated promptly, consciousness can usually be restored quickly, often without serious consequences. Prevention methods: 1, psychological prevention: mainly for people with suspicion, fear, or crying, laughing, shouting, trembling, avoidance, muscle spasms, accompanied by pupils, blood pressure, breathing, heartbeat, skin temperature, color, sweating and other changes in the vegetative nervous system and endocrine function. Pre-psychological prevention can be used to avoid adverse reactions such as dizziness. There are three methods: (1) language induction: before entering the needle, explain to the patient patiently the specific method of needling, explain the possible sensation of needling, the degree and conduction pathway, in order to obtain the patient’s trust and cooperation. (2) Relaxation training: For patients who are quiet, repressed, easy to concentrate, and introverted, make them gaze at an object and wait until they have completely entered a state of self-meditation (meditation) before proceeding to the needle. (3) Transferring attention: for patients who are impatient, active, inattentive and extroverted, the patient can be made to do some simple quick mental arithmetic, or ask them some small questions, using their visual and auditory functions and thinking activities, etc., to transfer their attention and promote local tissue relaxation. This method has been used to compare and observe 420 cases of patients and found to have a better effect on the prevention of dizziness and other adverse reactions. 2, physiological prevention: starving patients, before the needle should be appropriate to eat; excessive fatigue, should make it rest to the basic recovery of physical strength. Especially for people with a history of acupuncture and acupuncture for the first time, it is best to take a side position, simplify the points, reduce the amount of stimulation. 3, other preventive methods (1) eye pressure prevention method: foreign application of a pressure on the eyes to prevent dizziness method, by the domestic trial in the relevant units, indeed has a certain effect. The method is: let the patient look down, eyes closed, the operator will be the tip of the thumb of both hands were Xuan in the upper lid of the patient’s eyes, the remaining four fingers were placed in front of the patient’s ear for support, and then use the thumb to lightly press the eye, pay attention to the direction of force from the upper diagonal to the inner bottom, the tip of the thumb should be placed on the cornea of the eye above the force to avoid direct pressure on the fingertips of the cornea, press about 5s after lifting the finger about 5s, and then press and lift according to the method above. Continue for about 30s, and then perform the pinprick. Note: Glaucoma and high myopia should be used with caution. (2) Immersion in hot water to prevent acupuncture: For patients with special allergies, it is advocated that the patient should first be asked to immerse both hands in hot water for about 5-10 min, and then gently pierce the two Neiguan points with a milli-needle for about 1 min before starting to needle the acupuncture points in other diseases. It can be used for the reader’s clinical reference. In the process of acupuncture, once the patient has symptoms of aura dizziness, it should be handled immediately. After acupuncture cupping, make the patient rest in the consultation room for 5-10 minutes before leaving to prevent delayed dizziness. Treatment 1. Mild acupuncture fainting: All needles or cans should be removed quickly, or stop applying moxibustion, and help the patient to lie down in a place with air circulation. Elevate the legs, lower the head (without pillow) and lie down for a few moments. If the patient still feels uncomfortable, give warm boiled water or hot tea to drink. 2, heavy dizziness: immediately go to the needle after lying down, such as emergency, lying directly on the floor, moxibustion in the hundred points has a better effect, the method is to use commercially available medicinal moxa, lit in the hundred as a bird pecking type of warm moxibustion, should not be too close to the scalp, so as not to burn, until perception is restored, the symptoms subside. If necessary, with the implementation of artificial respiration, heart massage, injection of cardiac stimulants and acupuncture sluice, Yongquan and other measures.
