Acute phase treatment of facial paralysis includes medication, physical therapy, facial massage and other methods. 1. Drug treatment: applying hormonal drugs such as dexamethasone and prednisone to reduce edema and promote nerve recovery. Inflammation caused by bacterial infection can be applied to penicillin, erythromycin and other antibiotics. Viral infections can apply acyclovir, vasiclovir and so on. Neurotrophic drugs such as methylcobalamin and vitamin B can also be applied. 2. Physiotherapy: under the guidance of rehabilitation therapist, microwave therapy and infrared laser therapy can be performed on the affected face to promote blood circulation in the face and reduce local tissue edema, thus promoting the recovery of facial nerve function. 3. Facial massage: Massage can be performed around the eyes, nasolabial folds, corners of the mouth, and head to stimulate the relevant acupoints and promote blood circulation in the head and face, so as to improve facial function. Facial paralysis patients should pay attention to maintain a light diet, adequate rest, and avoid cold, which will help the recovery of the condition. Patients in the acute stage of facial paralysis are advised to go to regular hospitals for comprehensive and standardized rehabilitation treatment.
