It emanates from the aortic arch. The left carotid artery emanates directly from the carotid arch, the right carotid artery first emanates from the carotid arch from the innominate artery, and then from the innominate artery, the right and left carotid arteries will be divided into the internal carotid artery and the external carotid artery in the position above the laryngeal node, supplying different areas respectively.
