Symptoms of Duodenal Diverticulum

Duodenal diverticulum is asymptomatic in most patients, and symptoms such as abdominal pain and bloating may occur when complications arise.

1. Duodenal diverticulum is formed when part of the intestinal wall bulges outward into the lumen, which is generally caused by congenital dysplasia of the intestinal wall muscular layer. Most patients do not have obvious symptoms, and a small number of patients may have symptoms such as fullness and bloating, etc. Symptoms are relatively mild, and it is not easy to find out, which can be discovered accidentally during physical examination with barium meal angiography, gastroduodenoscopy or surgery.

2. If there are complications of duodenal diverticulum, such as obstruction, perforation, hemorrhage, diverticulitis, etc., nausea, vomiting, belching, abdominal pain, abdominal distension, vomiting blood, black stool, anemia and other symptoms may occur.

If clinical symptoms occur, you should seek medical attention to identify the cause of the disease and treat it under the guidance of your doctor to avoid delaying your condition.
