When a relatively hard bump appears on the right rib cage, it is important to first determine whether it is on the rib cartilage or on the rib cage. If it is a hard protrusion on the rib cartilage, it is generally considered to be due to a change in the shape of the fibrocartilage on the lateral side of the rib cartilage, which is mostly directly related to exertion, trauma, and habitual movements. A hard localized protrusion may appear. In the case of a hard protrusion on the ribs, it may be due to a tumor of the ribs, such as a benign osteoid osteoma, osteochondroma or even a malignant skeletal tumor, so a local radiological examination is needed to determine the nature of the location of the hard protrusion.
