Whether ankle fracture immobilization brace can replace the plaster is uncertain, after the ankle fracture need to choose the appropriate immobilization method according to the condition and patient needs. If the fracture is mild or the fracture crack is more stable and not easy to be displaced, the brace can be used to replace the plaster; if the fracture is more serious or the fracture is unstable and easy to be displaced, the brace cannot be used to replace it.
Immobilization brace has the function of supporting protection and promoting recovery, commonly used in ankle sprains, also can be used for ligament, tendon rupture and ankle fracture; plaster is commonly used for non-displaced ankle fracture, external immobilization of the fracture site, so as to maintain the stability of fracture broken end.
There are some differences between the two. Ankle fractures are immobilized with a brace, which is easier to put on and feels better to the patient, but the brace is less secure than a cast. Plasters are less convenient to wear, but have a stronger fit and better immobilization, and the decision to choose a brace or a plaster needs to be made on a case-by-case basis.
If ankle fracture occurs, it is recommended that the patient should seek medical attention in time to clarify the severity of the fracture and under the guidance of the doctor; if discomfort occurs during the wearing of the brace or plaster, the patient should also go to the hospital in time for a follow-up examination.
