Dreaming can be categorized into three TCM types: dampness trapping the spleen, weakness of the spleen and stomach, and deficiency of the spleen and kidneys, which can be treated with Ping Qi San, Liu Jun Zi Tang, and Lizhong Tang, with different formulas according to the different types of symptoms.
Dampness trapped in the spleen can be seen in patients with heaviness and drowsiness, chest tightness and little food, head hooded like a wrap, and severe swelling, the treatment is based on the main formula of Ping Gu San, and can add Huo Xiang, Pei Lan, Coix Seed, Poria, and other aromatic drugs that are beneficial to dampness. If there is much phlegm, Er Chen Tang can be added to dissolve phlegm.
Weakness of spleen and stomach is generally due to the weakness of middle qi and the failure of transportation and digestion of spleen and stomach, which is characterized by fatigue (lack of spirit), fatigue (mental exhaustion and physical weakness), especially after eating, shortness of breath and loose stools (sparse and unshaped feces), and the treatment is based on the formula of Six Gentlemen’s Soup, and Jiao Sanxian can be added to strengthen the spleen and eliminate food.
Spleen and kidney deficiency is usually caused by prolonged illness, involving the failure of the fire of the vital gate (the body’s kidney yang is weak, and the function of warming and promoting the operation of qi and blood is reduced), yang deficiency and fear of cold, and drowsiness, fatigue, and lack of food and laziness can be seen in daily life. The treatment is based on the Li-Zhong Tang, and qi deficiency can be treated by the addition of tonifying the middle and benefiting the qi soup.
