Genital herpes is a common sexually transmitted disease caused by infection with the herpes simplex virus. Genital herpes is chronic and prone to recurrence. Clinically, it is believed that genital herpes patients are generally difficult to cure completely and prone to recurrence, while patients carry the herpes simplex virus for life.
