The exact location of the Chengjian point is in the depression right in the middle of the chin-lip groove, i.e. the depression right below the lip and at the junction of the chin. It is the place where the Large Intestine Meridian, Stomach Meridian, Ren Vessel and Directing Vessel meet. It is commonly used for treating hemiplegia (inability to move one side of the limb at will), crooked eyes and mouth, swelling of the face, sores on the mouth and tongue, and sudden hoarseness of voice and inability to speak, etc., caused by stroke. Moxibustion can also be performed at this point depending on the specific symptoms as well as treatment needs. This point can be combined with Laogong, Shangyang and Shaoshang points to treat toothache and sore throat; it can also be paired with Hegu, Checheche and Dicang points to treat facial paralysis and lopsidedness of the eyes and mouth. Acupuncture point removal and other treatment operations should be carried out by specialized doctors to prevent adverse reactions caused by improper operation.
