Bone discontinuity of the lateral margin of the left tibial plateau is also referred to as a fracture of the lateral margin of the left tibial plateau. Disruption of the continuity of the cortex and trabeculae of the lateral border of the left tibial plateau, also known as a lateral tibial plateau fracture, is a common term used in imaging reports. A left lateral tibial plateau fracture is an intra-articular fracture, and CT scan can be used to further define the displacement of the fracture. If there is no displacement, conservative treatment can be chosen with external immobilization using a plaster cast. If the fracture is displaced by more than two millimeters, it will cause unevenness of the joint surface, and requires surgical treatment, such as internal fixation with cut-and-replace plates and screws. If the fracture of the lateral margin of the left tibial plateau is caused by trauma, it is recommended that the patient go to the hospital to improve the examination and receive regular treatment.
