Do you need to wash your stomach after taking cephalosporin and drinking alcohol?

Drinking alcohol after taking cephalosporin does not require gastric lavage. Cephalosporin will produce a disulfiram-like reaction with alcohol, so alcohol is generally not allowed within a week after taking the drug. However, if the treatment of disulfiram-like reaction does not include gastric lavage, anti-allergic drugs such as diphenhydramine and dexamethasone can be applied, and fluids and diuretics should be given to make the drug and alcohol components metabolize quickly, which will reduce the symptoms of disulfiram-like reaction. In case of severe disulfiram-like reactions or severe symptoms due to heavy alcohol consumption, a large amount of fluids or gastric lavage can be given temporarily, which may reduce absorption, but in general, gastric lavage is not required.
