Both Chinese and Western medicines are available for the treatment of insomnia, but it is not recommended to take them together.
Insomnia can be categorized as “insomnia” in traditional Chinese medicine, and it is common to see liver fire disturbing the heart, phlegm heat disturbing the heart, deficiency of heart and spleen, and heart and kidney disorders (heart fire and kidney yin deficiency, dysfunction of the physiological functions of the heart and kidneys) in clinical practice.
Liver fire disturbing the heart syndrome manifests as sleeplessness, dreaminess, impatience and irritability, accompanied by dizziness and head swelling. Gentian Diarrhea and Liver Tang can be used to dredge the liver and drain heat, and calm the heart and mind. Phlegm-heat disturbing the heart syndrome manifests as disturbed heart and insomnia, chest tightness, accompanied by heavy head, dizziness and other symptoms. Huang Lian Wen Bile Tang can be used to clear heat and resolve phlegm, harmonize the middle and calm the mind.
Deficiency of the heart and spleen manifests as difficulty in sleeping, palpitation and forgetfulness, accompanied by tiredness of the limbs, abdominal distension and other symptoms. Gui Spleen Tang can be used to tonify the heart and spleen, nourish blood and tranquilize the mind. Heart and Kidney Dissonance manifests as disturbed heart and sleeplessness, accompanied by dizziness, tinnitus, lumbar and knee pain and weakness. Six-flavored Di Huang Pill and Jiaotai Pill can be used to nourish Yin and lower fire, and to communicate with the Heart and Kidneys (Heart fire descends, Kidney water rises, and each other controls the other).
The adverse effects of the above formulas are not clear. Chinese and Western medicine have different treatment ideas, and in order to avoid drug interactions, it is not recommended to take them together. If necessary, please consult a medical practitioner and take them at different intervals after clear diagnosis and identification of symptoms.
If the patient is not feeling well, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time to identify the cause of the disease and standardize the treatment. It is not advisable to self-medication, so as not to delay the condition.
