Different treatment methods for bile duct cancer

Nowadays, the complication rate of the disease is always on the rise. In the face of such a serious disease as cholangiocarcinoma, we must adjust our emotions in time and then receive professional treatment. 1.Surgical treatment The treatment principle of bile duct cancer is: early cases should be mainly resected by surgery, and post-operative radiotherapy and chemotherapy should be used to consolidate and improve the effect of surgical treatment. For advanced cases that cannot be resected, biliary drainage surgery should be performed to control biliary tract infection, improve liver function, reduce comorbidities, prolong life and improve life quality. 2.Radiotherapy Surgical resection is the only radical treatment for cholangiocarcinoma. Adjuvant radiotherapy can only improve the survival rate of patients. For unresectable and locally metastatic cholangiocarcinoma, radiotherapy can improve patients’ symptoms and prolong life after effective biliary drainage. However, cholangiocarcinoma has been considered to be a radiation-insensitive tumor. The median survival of radiation therapy is generally reported to be 9 to 12 months.
