Many surgical patients have a question: Why do they need so many tubes of blood, chest X-ray, ECG and other tests before surgery?
Are these tests necessary? We take the most common hemorrhoid surgery in the anorectal department as an example to tell you what tests to do and the purpose of the tests.
The first step in admission is for the nurse to register, arrange the bed, and take vital signs.
Then the bedside doctor asks you about the onset of the disease and checks your body. An initial judgment is made by taking a medical history.
In the second step, tests are performed.
1. Laboratory tests that must be done
Blood routine, blood type: determine whether there is anemia, infection, blood system diseases, etc.; test blood type in case you need blood transfusion;
Urine routine: whether there is urinary tract infection, kidney disease;
Stool routine: whether there are parasites or blood in the stool that is not visible to the naked eye;
Blood biochemistry: for electrolyte disorders, kidney function and blood glucose level;
Liver function and blood lipids: to understand whether liver function is damaged and blood lipid level;
Blood clotting: surgery is traumatic, if the body’s hemostatic function is not good, you can not do surgery;
Hepatitis B and C, immune system: whether there is hepatitis B, hepatitis C, AIDS, syphilis infection, if there is infection, the operating room medical staff and equipment need to be prepared in advance;
2.Two kinds of tests must be done.
Electrocardiogram: It can reflect some heart problems that patients do not know about themselves, and some problems need to be treated before surgery;
Chest X-ray: preliminary determination of the lungs without obvious abnormalities.
3.Recommended tests:
Electronic colonoscopy:For patients with blood in stool, age over fifty, history of intestinal polyps, and patients with intestinal tumors in the family, it is recommended to do electronic colonoscopy to exclude colorectal lesions.
These are the routine preoperative examinations that patients don’t know much about and doctors don’t have time to explain in detail.
Then, you understand the significance of preoperative examination.
