How to recognize a breast lump

Breast lumps can be recognized by medical history, visual examination, palpation and imaging examination, pathological examination, etc.
1. Medical history: whether there is any pain or discomfort in the breast lump, and whether there is any relationship between the pain and menstrual cycle. For breast lump pain before and after menstruation, the possibility of benign lesions is considered to be high;
2. Visual examination: firstly, see whether the left and right breasts are symmetrical, whether there is any congenital development abnormality, secondly, see whether there is redness and swelling of breast, whether there is any tightness and depression of the skin on the surface of the breast, whether there is any secretion from the nipple and the nature of secretion; if there is any tightness and depression of the skin of the breast, and if there is any redness or inflammatory secretion from the nipple, the possibility of malignant tumors is considered to be high.
3. Palpation: through palpation, the location, size, texture, mobility and tenderness of the lump should be clarified and recorded. For painless lumps with hard texture and poor mobility, malignant tumors are considered to be highly probable, and it is necessary to consult a doctor immediately for examination.
4. Imaging examination: through breast ultrasound, mammogram and other imaging examinations, the nature of breast lumps will be analyzed comprehensively, ultrasound grade 4 and above, mammogram suggests calcification of lumps, burr sign suggests that the possibility of malignant tumor of the breast is high, and requires surgical treatment.
5. Pathological examination: the lump can be removed by puncture for pathological examination.
Once breast lumps are found, timely medical treatment is needed.
