Clinical manifestations of hypocalcemia in adults

Hypocalcemia in adults can manifest in several ways: i. Muscle spasms, commonly in the face as well as in the muscles of the back. Second, convulsions, which can appear as twitching of the hands and feet, laryngeal spasms, and in severe cases, seizures. Third, abnormal sensation, low blood calcium can appear in the lips, tongue, hands, as well as feet sensory numbness, with tingling sensation. Facial percussion pain, when gently tapping the anterior aspect of the nerve in the external auditory canal of the face, twitching of the eyelids and corners of the mouth can occur, this is the facial percussion sign, there can also be changes in the nails and skin, dry, scaly skin and nails become brittle, hair becomes rough and so on. Fifth, neurological symptoms, hypocalcemia patients can appear anxiety, depression, drowsiness and other neurological symptoms, then the relevant blood tests and calcium supplementation treatment.
