What to do if all the platelet-related markers are low

The risk of bleeding will increase if all the platelet-related indexes are low, so the causes of low platelet-related indexes should be clarified and can be treated by drugs or surgery.
1. Low platelet-related indexes may be caused by primary immune thrombocytopenia, which can be treated with glucocorticoid drugs such as dexamethasone, prednisone, methylprednisolone, etc. If hormone treatment is ineffective, drugs such as rituximab and eltrombopag can be used. If necessary, resection of the spleen should be given.
2. Platelet-related indexes may be low due to aplastic anemia, which can be treated with cyclosporine and stanozolol; in case of acute aplastic anemia, allogeneic stem cell transplantation can be preferred, and anti-thymocyte globulin treatment can also be given.
3. In addition, low platelet-related indexes may also be caused by leukemia, which can be treated with chemotherapy (drugs include cytarabine, zorubicin, etc.), and the number of platelets may be elevated only after the condition is relieved.
Patients with low platelet counts are advised to go to the hospital in a timely manner to clarify the cause of the disease and then undergo standardized treatment according to the doctor’s guidance.
