How long does it take for otolithiasis to heal?

Otolithiasis, i.e., benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, can resolve spontaneously or be cured by repositioning. The disease is self-limiting and can take days, weeks or months to heal, rarely more than a year, with about 50% healing within a month. If repositioning treatment is performed, the disease can usually be cured within a week or so. However, due to the nature of the disease, it may recur.
The disease is a peripheral vestibular lesion characterized by recurrent episodes of transient vertigo and characteristic nystagmus induced by changes in head position. The most effective approach is to treat it with appropriate manual repositioning after clarifying the side and type of the lesion. When combined with other diseases or symptoms such as dizziness and balance disorders after repositioning, drugs such as betahistine can be used to improve the microcirculation of the inner ear.
In a very small number of patients, the condition of the ear is prolonged after manipulation, and it has a great influence on daily work and life, so semicircular canal occlusion can be chosen.
When suffering from otolithiasis, we should actively seek medical treatment and follow the doctor’s instructions to standardize the treatment after systematic examination to clarify the diagnosis and the extent of the disease.
