Ephedra and Atractylodes Soup is the original formula of Ephedra and Atractylodes Soup with four taels of Atractylodes, used for the treatment of externally sensed wind-cold-dampness epiglottis (symptoms manifested by externally sensed wind-cold-dampness), with Ephedra as the monarch, Atractylodes and Cinnamon Branch as the ministers, Almond as the adjuvant, and Roasted Glycyrrhiza glabra as the enabler.
Ephedra and Atractylodes Soup consists of ephedra, atractylodes, cinnamon sticks, almonds and roasted licorice. The principal drug is the main therapeutic agent, and ephedra disperses wind-cold. The subject medicine is the medicine that assists the monarch to strengthen its therapeutic effect. Gui Zhi helps Ephedra to sweat and relieve epidemics (by sweating to remove the evil qi on the surface of the body), while Atractylodes Macrocephala dispels dampness, and the two of them work together as the subject medicine.
Almond declares and lowers lung qi and acts as an adjuvant. Glycyrrhiza glabra harmonizes the medicinal properties of the herbs, acting as both an adjuvant and an enabler.
Through the combination of the two herbs, Ephedra and Rhizoma Atractylodis, it can be used for the treatment of wind-cold-dampness paralysis (paralysis of the limbs caused by wind, cold and dampness) resulting in body heat, heartburn, pain in the limbs and lack of sweating, etc. The adverse effects and contraindications are still unknown. Its adverse effects and contraindications are not clear.
If patients need to use the drug, they should consult a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner to ensure the safety of the drug.
