The cost of the imported equipment currently used in clinical practice is about 160,000-180,000 RMB, which most patients cannot afford due to its high price and the fact that it is not yet covered by medical insurance, so there is an urgent need to localize the vagus nerve stimulator product. In order to benefit the majority of patients, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Tsinghua University hosted the development of a domestic vagus nerve stimulation system, and achieved initial positive results. The clinical application of the domestic stimulator can significantly reduce the medical costs and economic burden of the majority of patients with intractable epilepsy, and is closely watched and expected by the majority of patients with intractable epilepsy and their families.
