The testis is in the groin and some patients can come down and some cannot. A testicle in the inguinal canal is a cryptorchid. Cryptorchidism is more prevalent in newborn male children, and about 80% of children with cryptorchidism can descend into the scrotum on their own within one year of age. If it does not descend into the scrotum after one year of age, it can be injected intramuscularly with chorionic gonadotropin, 300-500 units twice a week, for a total dose of 5,000 to 10,000 units in some children. If there is still no descent after two years of age, cryptorchidism descent fixation surgery must be performed to prevent the occurrence of infertility in adulthood.
