How much does an angiogram cost?

The cost of imaging varies greatly depending on the geographical area, the level of the hospital and the location of the imaging site. For example, the cost of CT enhancement, which includes the cost of the CT scan, the cost of the contrast agent, the cost of the disposable high-pressure syringe and the connecting tubing, is usually around a few hundred to 2,000 dollars. There is also a difference of a few hundred dollars depending on the brand of contrast agent. For example, the cost of a urological scan or a whole abdomen enhanced scan is higher than the cost of a scan of the kidneys alone or a scan of the liver, gallbladder or spleen. If the diagnosis of a lesion is not clear from a CT-enhanced scan, a magnetic resonance (MR) enhancement scan may also be needed, which costs more than a CT enhancement and typically costs several thousand dollars. Enhanced scans are generally used when suspicious lesions are present, and if there are no suspicious lesions, MRI enhancement is generally not necessary.
